Let’s Do Business Group, the delivery partners of Backing Essex Business have a long-established history of aiding SMEs to gain access to finance through Start Up Loans, Growth Loans, and more recently the Coronavirus Business Interruption Scheme (CBILS) and Recovery Loan Scheme (RLS) on behalf of the British Business Bank. Offering funding of up to £150,000 they can ensure you get the right finance on the right terms for your business and have been integral to supporting many businesses through the challenges of the last two years.

During the pandemic, Pasini Leisure, owners of the Three Wise Monkeys hospitality venue in Colchester, approached Backing Essex Business for support in progressing their brewery expansion project, applying for a CBILs loan. Successful in their application, this funding was vital not only to move their project forward, but in securing the future of the primary business.

The Backing Essex Business team were instrumental in providing us with some funding for our expansions and brewery project next door and that really stopped that project from taking the whole thing under. We’re eternally grateful for that.
— Charlie Rogers, Operations Manager, Pasini Leisure Ltd

Samuel Bros, based in Harwich, manufactures uniforms for the military as part of a tradition which dates back centuries. Like many, repeated lockdowns had a detrimental effect on their business, leading them to reach out for help from Backing Essex Business. Receiving support from an experienced business mentor, the tailors were able to create a robust business plan and reassess their financial budgets, helping to secure their future.

We have had some great continued support from Backing Essex Business who have, quite frankly, been exceptional, and really understand our business.
— Lee Dawson, Samuel Brothers

This support comes at a vital time for businesses as they navigate their way back to normality and try to plug any gaps created by periods of forced closure, or heavy restrictions. Fully funded by Essex County Council and the North Essex District and Borough Councils, this programme showcases their commitment to supporting Essex businesses to get back on track.

Councillor Lesley Wagland, Cabinet Member for Economic Renewal, Infrastructure and Planning, commented: “The partnership between Essex County Council and Backing Essex business has created valuable funding and advice for businesses, during a period of uncertainty, and now I am very looking forward to watching the service grow, with its new specialist support for North Essex.”
